Over the past two weeks the students have begun to work on their Exhibition Projects. The students have been placed in groups based on interest. To help the students prepare, we have gone on several field trips to different locations in Busan and Ulsan.

This week the students were introduced to our new unit which focuses on Media Literacy. This is a vital skill to learn and we are looking forward to seeing the students progress through this unit. On Tuesday, the classes visited an aircraft carrier. This was a unique experience that the students all enjoyed. it is hard to believe that we are now into October. It seems like yesterday that we were welcoming students into class. Over the past month we have inquired into conflicts, worked on developing our math and writing skills. We have also worked with Mrs. Roland to learn how to read non-fiction texts using the Collaborative Strategic Reading Strategy.
Pictures for Mr. Lea's Class can be found at the following locations: August, September, and Grade 5 Camp. It is hard to believe but the first full of the 2016-17 school year has finished. In grade 5 we have continued to build routines and learn more about each other. This week the grade 5 classes also used the Mac Trolleys for the first time. During this time, the students signed into their Google classroom and worked on their first reflection for their portfolio. The students enjoyed using the computers and getting set up in the Classroom for the year. On Aug. 31st the Grade 5 classes will be hosting a parent/student workshop about the BYOD at 10:30 am in ES Hall. Grade 5 parents are strongly encouraged to attend this session. Ms. Donahue and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new and returning grade 5 students this year. Over the past couple of days our classes have gotten to know each other and bond through various different activities.
Overall it was a great couple of days of getting to know each other and setting up routines and expectations for the year. We are both looking forward to next year.
